Michael Hallock, Oakton, Senior
2009 All-Beltway Boys Swimming First Team
Oakton senior Michael Hallock won the 100-yard backstroke at the Concorde District meet with a time of :52.73 and at the Virginia AAA State meet at :50.30, :00.1 from the state record. Both are automatic All-American times. He won the state meet after qualifying sixth in preliminaries.
At the Northern Region meet, Hallock won the 100-yard backstroke (:50.27), 100-yard freestyle (:46.06), swam the first leg of the record-setting 200-yard medley relay team (1:35.09) and the anchor leg of the record-setting 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:07.28). Hallock finished second in the 100-yard freestyle at the district and state meets, recording automatic All-American times in the latter at :46.21.
He was a part of the state-record 200-yard medley relay last year (1:34.85), the Concorde District and Northern Region championship team in 2009 (1:37.17) and top qualifying team at the Virginia AAA state meet this year. But in the state final, a quest for a repeat was quelled when a teammate left the blocks early. Hallock also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished third in Virginia.
